5 daagse curus in Hawar school met Caroline Bartlett:Traces & overworkings – interpreting objects.
Working from your own collection of objects, develop ideas through guided drawing activities and exercises; layering, erasing, fragmenting, distorting, overworking, concealing and revealing, making use of positive and negative shape and line. Select from these explorations and experiments to mark the cloth through painting, simple printing (screen and mono print), stitching, manipulating and pleating working on a long strip of fabric or on a small series of individual pieces.
The course is primarily intended to explore the layering of concepts, media and process. Outcomes will vary according to individual concerns, skills and experience. What you develop may become an item in its’ own right or serve as a the basis for new directions and ways of thinking and processing information.
Pair work and group discussions, practical demonstrations and visual presentations will help progress ideas, and individual guidance will be given to extend your personal approach for future work.
It is important that the objects you bring are interesting in their shape and have a meaning for you.
